For General Notary documents, all signers must be proficient enough in the language of the documents to understand the purpose, meaning, and implications of signing the documents.
For real estate and loan signings we request the bilingual escrow agent to be available via telephone during the signing in case the signers have questions about the documents' meaning and purpose that go beyond the notary's scope of duties.
